Research in Aging and Pizza Talks
UConn Center on Aging Monthly Research Meetings.
Research in Aging and Pizza Talks meet one Friday a month.
TIME: 11:30 AM -1:00 PM
Place: UConn Health Center – Center on Aging Conference Room, Administrative Services Building – second floor (ASB-2)
September 19 – Richard Fortinsky, PhD and Amoah Yeboah-Korang, MPH
“Medicare home health care use among patients from different racial and ethnic groups with diabetes as a primary diagnosis”
Dr. George Kuchel – “prevalence of incontinence in older diabetic patients and potential new lines of inquiry based on these results”
These sessions are designed to bring people together who are interested in aging research to present and discuss ongoing studies in an informal setting.
For those not familiar with the format:
When it comes to research, sampling the final dish can be great, but learning from each other while we are still cooking and, even better, selecting the ingredients, may be much more useful.
With these considerations in mind, we will be starting monthly Center on Aging Research Meetings.
This time was selected so that all fellows and as many faculty and staff as possible are able to attend.
A schedule and agenda will be distributed a few days before each Research Meeting.
- There will be NO formal presentations.
- Individuals will be given short blocks of time in which to share a specific research issue or problem, followed by a discussion.
- Topics could be as broad as sharing a new research interest in its earliest stages to something as task-oriented as an upcoming IRB or CLAC submission; recruitment difficulties; ideas for data analysis or the development of a specific data figure.
- We will devote specific meetings to either T2 translational (institution to community) or T1 translational (bench to bedside) research.
All are welcome…there will be pizza and beverages. |
